I have some questions about how you guys take the jumps, I know the perfered racing line is to straiten the corners out as much as possible but are you supposed to just anticipate the corner and get all your steering input done befor you get to the jump so you can hold the wheel strait? I'm tryin to get a handle on doin that but most the time my hands aren't attached to my brain. Are you anticipating the revs befor you land, holding it wide open, or just staying off the gas? I've been down shifting befor some of the turns and letting the car slow down rather than using the brakes(not that they have much in the way of brakes) this seems to be the smoother way for me to get around the track but i don't know if it's the fastest. Is it better to brake hard befor turning in, trail brake, left foot brake, or just roll through most corners? Thanks Beau

well first the car has the giro effect so it is up to you ti hit the gas or brake to help you out in the air try it it works

It really depends on the track and the jump. But as a general rule I try to line my car up for the jump more than worrying about the corners. Once I have a line that I can make the jumps smooth then I work on making the corners better.
The trick for most jumps is making sure the wheels are straight when you land. As far as accelerating after or before the jump depends on the track and the jump. Most of the time I am accelerating to the jump. I also usually set my gears up so I shift in the air (up or down) so I don't lose time shifting on the surface of the track. On some jumps I have it full throttle when I land and others I let off.
Most of the DBR oval tracks I never brake, just downshifting or deccelerating. The road courses I brake in some areas.
But the biggest thing when getting on the tracks with jumps is learning the jumps first, then worry about the rest of the track and where you can pick up time.
One thing you can do is watch other people either in practice or in your replays. In the replays it shows you what gear they are in and their rpm's. It can be a very valuable tool if you pay attention to all the details and the lines they run.
Hope this helps you out. You are doing pretty good so far! You have good track awareness, I mean you usually don't pull out in front of people when you spin and you pull over a bit to let leaders by. So, I think you are doing very good for a noobe! But try watching in practice and replays, I think it will help you.
See you on the track! | |

Thanks for the tips i'm already seeing some improvements, I understand the brakes tip the car down but the throttal seems to do little if nothing, though if i use them together i seem to land smoother. Still a few secs. off the lap records though guess i just gotta buckle down and practice. Sorry i missed the race, power was out Thanks Beau
